How to find local businesses without websites

· 6 min read

Every method below produces the same output: a list of nearby businesses with customers but no website. They differ only in time cost and coverage.

Method 1: Google Maps, by hand

  • Search '<category> in <locality>' and open the listings one by one.
  • Note any listing with no website link but a phone number and reviews.
  • Search the exact business name separately — some have a site not linked in Maps.
  • Expect 30 to 40 verified checks per hour.

Method 2: walk the market

Signboards that show only a phone number are the offline version of the same signal. Slower per business, but you meet the decision maker and can often close on the spot with a printed sample.

Method 3: use a lead finder

A tool like Zertex queries public business listings for a chosen Indian city and category and returns only those without a website, along with the public phone number, rating and locality. What takes an hour manually takes a few seconds, and the same list stays saved with your contacted status.

Verify before you pitch

  • Search the business name plus city to be sure no site exists.
  • Check that the listing looks alive: recent reviews, photos, correct timings.
  • Confirm the phone number is a business line, not a defunct one.

Then work the list properly

A list is only worth the follow-up attached to it. Contact each business up to three times over two weeks, keep notes on why they said no, and revisit the category next quarter — the answer changes as competitors go online.
